Royal Rumble match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the tenth
spot. Kingston would evade end by being tossed over the top rope right on to
Big E's shoulders. Kingston would later be disposed of by Chris Jericho. On the
March 7 scene of Raw, the New Day went up against Jericho and his label group
accomplice AJ Styles for the label group titles where they would hold, with
Jericho attacking AJ after the match. The New Day then crushed one-portion of
the League of Nations for the label group titles at WWE Roadblock, turning face
all the while. On the March 14 scene of Raw, the New Day guarded their titles
against the other portion of the League of Nations. After the match, the four League
of Nations individuals attacked the New Day. On March 17, Kingston surpassed
John Morrison to wind up the longest joined ruling label group champion at 541
days.
At Extreme Rules, The New Day effectively safeguarded
their titles against The Vaudevillains after Woods stuck Aiden English. The
following night on Raw, The New Day crushed The Vaudevillains in a non-title
match by means of preclusion after they were assaulted by Karl Anderson and
Luke Gallows, starting a fight between the two groups. The fight was settled at
Money in the Bank, where The New Day effectively held the titles against
Gallows and Anderson, The Vaudevillains and Enzo Amore and Big Cass in a deadly
4 way label group match.
On July 19, at the 2016 WWE Draft, Kingston, alongside
his kindred New Day partners, was drafted to Raw. After three days, on July
22nd, Kingston, alongside Xavier Woods and Big E, turned into the longest
reigning WWE Tag Team Champions ever, breaking the record of 331 days
beforehand set by Paul London and Brian Kendrick. After SmackDown set up the
WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships after the brand split, the titles held by
the New Day were renamed the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships.
